London: and a tale of the Tory Burch flagship store

While I was in London on Blogtour, I popped into the Tory Burch flagship store to take a few notes for a project and pick up a few goodies.  

What a very glamorous locale.  

I loved the brass detailing throughout & hot shots of color!

The beautiful styling with orchids...

ikat walls...

orange lacquer tables and a sublime brass stairway.

All a perfect backdrop for a sea of Tory Burch blues and greens....

and pretty hues and pretty prints....

Why even boyfriends waiting for girlfriends in dressingrooms were dapper....

as was the {terribly charming} store manager....

If you're in London, most definitely worth a trip......

London: and a tale of Bill's or a style of your own

I was thinking about how easy it is to lose ourselves and to look like others.  How immersed we can be in our tear sheets, Pinterest images, and Etsy surfing, copying "looks", recreating interiors, and remaking crafts.  How all this inspiration can provoke a dull sameness, and all this sharing lead to a sort of viral handmade factory production.  The truth is that a tweak here or there doesn't make it your (or my) own.

So today here's to calling forth our ideal selves.  To a you that is really you, and a me that is really me, if only a bit shinier, more creative and more generous.

                                                              Let's all dig deep.

PS On BlogTour with Modenus, Sponsor Mr. Steam took us to Bill's for breakfast.  Sort of like a styled stage set but somehow homey and original. I liked it.

The Modenus Blogtour London: and a tale of people and places

Oh, we were in London on BlogTour to look at design.  But it was so much more than that.  

Our fearless leader (and den mother extraordinaire) Veronika Miller of Modenus, soberly went over the ropes.

And then we put our papers away.  And it started.

There were amazing sights.

that brought pure pleasure.

And spots with funny names 

or funny messages....

that provoked bouts of laughter.

There was fierce playing in the streets....it's true.

requiring a never ending stream of food and booze for replenishment....

And even special dinners....just for us...

presided over with gusto.

and met with appreciation.

There were new friendships made.

And old friendships rekindled.

And while the new world order might be the enemy of humanity.

This world order was as pretty....

                                                           as a picture.
