Dear friend,
I am not one for New Year’s resolutions per se (although believe me, I want to lose weight, be more grateful, and make new friends, as much as the next person). But I do like to have a New Year’sWord – kind of like a guiding theme for the year. Last year, this was my word. And I think I did a pretty good job. But it’s time for me to move on and try a new word for 2017.
So my word this year is....
Dear 2016,
What a ride you have taken me on.
I am still upset with you for the outcome of the US election -- you pulled a fast one there. You also did a lousy job internationally: refugees, random terrorist attacks, Syria.
But you taught me a few things, too, big and small, practical and theoretical. So I will forgive you.

I have been thinking a lot about my purpose lately. This involves questions like, Why was I put on this planet? How can I better be the person that I want to be? What will my legacy be?
Do you have those discussions with yourself, too?
I think all of us want to be good and compassionate people. We want to help. We want to give back but sometimes it's hard to figure out what to do and how to do it. We say to ourselves, I am just one person. What can I really do?
I have never hidden my love for color and pattern. I feel my most energized and happy when it surrounds me. If shopping in my own store, these are the pieces I would buy...
